Where to park in Ronda

Finding parking in Ronda can be challenging, especially during peak season, but with the right information you’ll navigate it smoothly. Here’s everything you need to know about parking in this stunning Spanish hilltop town.

Your parking options in Ronda

Option 1: Try your luck with free street parking

Ronda is a compact city where everywhere is within walking distance, so you don’t need to park right in the center. However, be warned: finding a free spot, especially in the morning hours, can be difficult if you don’t know where to look.

Best free parking area: San Cristóbal neighborhood

The San Cristóbal neighborhood, near the train station, is your best bet for free street parking. Drive around the streets surrounding the station (Avenida Andalucía area) and the nearby plaza—these streets are all legal for parking and usually have available spots. If you get tired of circling, the Parking Martínez Astein is nearby. From San Cristóbal, you can reach Calle de La Bola in about 10 minutes on foot, from where you can easily descend into the old town.

Near this square there is a free outdoor parking lot where there is always a free space.

During Peak Dates

During major events, don’t even attempt to park in the city center. Head straight to the Industrial Estate (Polígono Industrial) and walk from there. The walk isn’t long, but during popular dates, it’s your only realistic option.

Old Town Restrictions

Since summer 2025, traffic in Ronda’s old town has been restricted to vehicles with Ronda registration plates only. That said, this doesn’t change much—parking in the old town has always been nearly impossible anyway.

Option 2: Parking Garages for peace of mind

All paid parking garages in Ronda charge similar rates (€1.50-€2.00 per hour), so the main consideration is choosing one closest to your destination. Here are your main options:

Parking Público La Concepción (Also known as "Parking de los Militares")

  • Location: Calle Comandante Salvador Carrasco, 3
  • Rate: Approximately €1.80/hour (note: prices increased significantly in January 2024 from €1.08/hour)
  • Hours: Open 24/7
  • Special Rate: Free parking from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM
  • Type: Outdoor parking lot
  • Our Take: This is the local favorite despite recent price increases. It’s well-located, reasonably priced, and offers excellent customer service (they even answer calls at dawn if you lose your ticket!). Be aware it can fill up mid-morning (around 11 AM-12 PM). The lot will eventually be replaced by an underground parking garage as part of a city redevelopment project.
  • Reserve at Parkimeter (though you’ll pay more—it’s cheaper to pay directly for exact hours)

Parking Saba (Next to train station)

  • Location: Av. Andalucía, 31
  • Capacity: 80 spaces
  • Hours: Open 24/7
  • Type: Outdoor parking
  • It is located next to the train station and is the cheapest paid parking in Ronda

Parking Martínez Astein

  • Location: Avenida Martínez Astein (entries from Avenida de Málaga and Calle Córdoba)
  • Capacity: 400 spaces
  • Hours: Open 24/7
  • Type: Underground garage
  • Our Take: Located in the northern part of the city near San Cristóbal neighborhood, perfect if you’re also considering free street parking in that area.
  • Reserve directly or via Parkimeter

Parking Plaza del Socorro

  • Location: Plaza del Socorro, s/n
  • Capacity: 280 spaces
  • Rate: Approximately €22.43 per day when booking in advance
  • Hours: Open 24/7
  • Type: Underground garage
  • Our Take: Ideally located in the city center, within easy walking distance of the Plaza de Toros, Puente Nuevo, and all major attractions.
  • Reserve at Parkimeter

Parking La Merced

  • Location: Calle Carlos Cobo
  • Capacity: 100 spaces
  • Hours: 7:30 AM to 11:30 PM

Important tips for all visitors

Choose a Hotel with Parking

If you’re spending the night in Ronda, choosing accommodation with parking will save you considerable hassle. Many hotels like Hotel Catalonia Reina Victoria and Parador de Ronda offer parking facilities (some include valet service). Always check parking availability when booking your stay.

Benefits of Having a Car in Ronda

While parking can be challenging, having a car in Ronda opens up the region. You’ll have the freedom to explore nearby white villages (pueblos blancos) like Setenil de las Bodegas, Zahara de la Sierra, and Grazalema.

Mirador La Hoya del Tajo

This viewpoint offers one of the most iconic photo opportunities of Ronda’s  Puente Nuevo from below. While technically accessible by car, the road is extremely narrow and in poor condition. If you have a suitable vehicle and confident driving skills, you can attempt it. However, most visitors prefer to park at the free parking area on the outskirts of Ronda (view location on Google Maps) and walk to the viewpoint instead—it’s much less stressful and actually enjoyable!

Prohibited Parking Sign For Cars

Parking violations

Ronda has increased enforcement of parking violations. Never park:

  • In spaces marked with yellow lines (commercial loading zones or private spaces)
  • In front of garage entrances with yellow lines and no-parking signs
  • In resident-only zones without a permit

If your car is towed, retrieval fees range from €70 to €150. The narrow, one-way streets of the historic center can be confusing, so pay close attention to signage.

Orange Zone parking regulations (coming in 2026)

Starting sometime in 2026 (no specific date confirmed yet), the city will implement a new “Orange Zone” (Zona Naranja) in 21 central streets. This system will prioritize local residents while still allowing visitor parking:

  • For Ronda residents: Free parking with no time limit (vehicles with Ronda fiscal registration)
  • For visitors: €1 per hour via parking meters, with a maximum stay of 3 hours

The Orange Zone will include approximately 1,000 parking spaces across these streets: Mariano Soubirón, Infantes, Naranja, Cruz Verde, Almendra, Setenil, María Cabrera, Virgen de los Dolores, Santa Cecilia, Sevilla, Lauría, Pozo, Molino, Los Remedios, Poeta Rilke, Carlos Cobo, San José, Jerez, Castelló Madrid, Comandante Salvador Carrasco, and Ollerías.

Additionally, La Ciudad and Padre Jesús streets will remain as “Green Zone” (Zona Verde), reserved exclusively for residents with no visitor parking allowed.

If your car is towed, retrieval fees range from €70 to €150. The narrow, one-way streets of the historic center can be confusing, so pay close attention to signage.
